Injury to Timberline Lodge was described as “considerably minimal” after a three-alarm fireplace on the historic website on Mount Hood late Thursday night time.
The ski space was closed Friday and the resort is closed till additional discover.
The fireplace was first reported at 9:30 p.m. within the headhouse attic and its exterior roof space, the lodge stated in a Fb publish. Visitors have been evacuated and fireplace crews have been capable of put out the blaze by 11 p.m. No accidents have been reported.
“There may be an ongoing investigation as to the trigger, however it’s suspected hearth embers ignited the roof,” the lodge stated in a press release. “At first look, the harm is considerably minimal with water contained in headhouse and foyer areas and no inside fireplace or smoke harm. Energy has been restored and company have been moved offsite.”
Resort officers credited Timberline staff, Hoodland Fireplace, Clackamas County and Gresham first responders with maintaining harm minimal.
