Light tremors felt in Vancouver after 4.0 earthquake near Victoria

An earthquake measuring 4.0 on Richter scale struck close to Victoria early this morning at roughly 4:05 am at present.  The earthquake’s epicentre was situated about 18 kilometres northeast of Victoria, close to Saanichton, at a depth of 52 kilometres.

Residents in components of Higher Victoria and surrounding areas, together with Vancouver, reported feeling mild tremors. Regardless of some shaking, there have been no stories of injury or accidents, and authorities don’t count on any.

The general public is requested to observe earthquake security protocols, urging folks to “drop, cowl, and maintain on” if additional tremors happen.

Earthquakes can’t be predicted, although the Canadian Earthquake Early Warning system can present seconds to tens of seconds of warning by detecting an earthquake instantly after it happens.

Drop, Cowl and Maintain On

If you really feel the bottom shake or obtain an alert, instantly:
