“The status for Jayden we’ll put down as week to week. We will take him through all the steps at practice, assess how he is doing, and keep working through that. We’re hopeful he can play, but we will also make sure to take every precautionary step and do it smartly for the player and the man,” Quinn said. “It’s not gonna be something that knocks him out long term.”

Quinn said the team hasn’t ruled out Daniels for Week 8’s tilt against the Chicago Bears.

“We’re hopeful he’ll play this week,” Quinn told reporters on Monday. “We’ll take it every day of it all the way through.”

Daniels sustained a left rib injury during the first quarter of Washington’s 40-7 win against the Carolina Panthers. The Commanders initially deemed Daniels questionable to return but he was later downgraded to out.

After Washington’s 11-play, 85-yard field goal drive, Daniels walked off the field in discomfort. The Commanders’ medical staff attended to him on the bench and went into the blue tent for further evaluation.

Daniels left the blue tent and attempted to toss passes along the sideline but appeared to still be in pain. The team’s medical staff escorted him to the locker room.

Veteran Marcus Mariota replaced Daniels at quarterback for the Commanders. The Commanders were up 10-0 when Daniels checked out of the contest.

Washington extended its lead to 27-0 at halftime.

Daniels returned to the sideline in sweats in the second half and was seen smiling and waving to the crowd while the Commanders enjoyed a comfortable lead.
