Evacuation order lifted in Dartmouth after chemical spill - Halifax

An evacuation order has been lifted in Dartmouth, N.S., after a chemical spill on the Bedford Institute of Oceanography.

The alert, which was issued Wednesday afternoon, lined the world between the institute and the MacKay Bridge.

“A 250 metre obligatory evacuation is in place and can stay in place till the scene is safe. This contains the MacKay Bridge,” it learn.

“It is suggested to stay away from this space till it’s deemed protected.”

It’s unclear when the leak occurred, or what induced it.

Round 6 p.m., it was introduced the order had been lifted and the Mackay Bridge had reopened.
