Former Louisville QB signing with Detroit Lions
Former College of Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is making his return to the NFL after retiring final yr.
Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell confirmed Bridgewater is signing with the group Thursday, the Detroit Free Press reported. The NFL Community first reported the information.
The transfer marks Bridgewater’s second stint with the Lions. The 32-year-old quarterback joined the group as a backup to beginning quarterback Jared Goff within the 2023 season, later saying plans to retire and pursue a profession in highschool teaching at Miami Northwestern, his alma mater.
In his first season teaching highschool ball, Bridgewater led his group to a 12-2 file, together with a powerful 41-0 win within the Class 3A state championship recreation.
Based on the Free Press, Campbell stated Bridgewater’s years of expertise within the league and prior time spent on the Lions makes him a beneficial addition.
“It is nice for our group,” Campbell stated. “I feel everyone in that locker room respects Teddy and what he stands for and sort of human being he’s, but additionally sort of participant.”
Bridgewater hinted at the potential of his return to the NFL in a current interview with NFL Community.
“My group is conscious of the plan. We aimed to win a state championship, after which the coach would return to the league to see what occurs.
